I have been diagnosing and treating orthopedic injuries as a Doctor of Physical Therapy for nine years in Florida and the DC area. Prior to becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy I worked in Asia for several years and volunteered for one year with AmeriCorps in Boston. Earlier, in college, I was a member of the Penn novice crew team for one year, a member of the club soccer and tennis teams, and founder and president of the women's club basketball team.
What drew me to the McKenzie method of mechanical diagnosis and therapy early on in my physical therapy career was how quickly it produced results as well as its lasting effectiveness - both personally with a lumbar disc herniation and with my patients. Unlike with "traditional" physical therapy, patients frequently experience a rapid reduction of symptoms in only a few visits. In addition, my patients often see improvements which prior treatments failed to achieve. One-on-one treatments (without assistants or aides) provide the personal attention needed to teach patients how to treat themselves through targeted movement. I have mentored many physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students as a credentialed clinical instructor and regularly attend, and assist at, courses across the country. I completed the McKenzie Institute International's Diploma program in July, 2019 and am awaiting the final exam.
